Hansel and Gretel
Many interpreters have tried to explain the appeal of this ancient tale for youngest children, who are always thrilled to encounter the edible house and see the wicked witch punished. Such traditional tales help children on their difficult journey of growing up by showing them that they, small as they are, have the power to survive in the threatening world of adults.
